Work Sample 2:  MLB Data - A Look  at a Pitcher's Whiff Statistics

Context

  • Whiff Percent - Divides the number of pitches swung at and missed by the total number of swings in a given sample.
  • Batting Average (BA) -  In evaluating pitchers. In this case, it is determined by dividing the number of hits against a given pitcher by the number of at-bats against him.

  • Hard Hit Percent -  Refers to a hit with an exit velocity of 95 mph or higher, and a pitchers "hard-hit rate" is simply showing the percentage of batted balls that were hit at 95 mph or more.
  • Data represents the first 5 weeks of the 2021 MLB season (Changeup Only)

Tableau certification
Certification Expired

I went through the official Tableau channels to take the certification exam. However, it is expired because I've primarily used Power BI. I do miss it though.

The exam was thorough and prided itself as testing applicable skills that are necessary to succeed in the workplace.

Currently, I am certified under the 'Desktop Associate'  classification (level 2 of 3).

Tableau vs. Power BI

Clearly, both have a great array of options to help produce high quality visualizations that aid in analysis.

In my opinion the dashboards, maps and analytic capabilities in Tableau are better than Power BI.

Power BI can be faster with data processing (Power Query), BI service is better than Tableau Online and it has a different array of analytic capabilities.

They are both great though just fairly different.
